Politics meets Salesforce

This made me laugh, Salesforce.com meets a love of mine: politics. Darren actually found this article and knew what a kick I’d get out of it, so here I am talking about it.

The article is: Political Campaigns Standardize on Salesforce, from CNN.

Interestingly enough, many politicians (Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, John Kerry) are using on-demand software to handle their campaigns, and they’ve found that the best on-demand software that meets their need is CampaignForce.

CampaignForce

I find this very exciting. First of all, politicians are a new market niche. I don’t know if Salesforce actively pursued them or not, but either way, this is a new set of customers that have realised the advantages that on-demand can bring. Secondly, not only is this a brand new set of customers to on-demand, but due to the nature of Force.com and APEX, this is a brand new set of customers to Salesforce. Salesforce must be doing something right. A Ron Paul campaign consultant states:

“The on-demand nature of Campaignforce fits perfectly with the needs of today’s campaigns — it provides immediate access to campaign information, is accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection for use in field operations, and can be implemented quickly without the need to buy and maintain IT infrastructure. The Apex API allows our web development team to leverage Salesforce’s reporting tools to enhance the real time transparency of Ron Paul’s fundraising success.

If only using Salesforce would make you win Ron, if only.
