Found this interesting article from Datamation titled: The Top Five Vendors Using SaaS
Here’s what they had to say:
“With this rapidly changing landscape in mind, here are five vendors deploying SaaS who have attracted the attention of analysts all over North America.”
Here’s the top 5 List:
- Salesforce.com
- NetSuite
- SuccessFactors
- Adobe
- Axentis
How in the world did they get Adobe? What about other companies like Taleo, Omniture or WorkDay? I’ll tell you what happened.

This is probably the conversation that unfolded at Datamation.
Boss: “Hey we need to write an article about this SaaS thing. Looks like it’s a new trend. I know, let’s write a Top 10 List. Those are always cool. Makes us sound like Gartner”
Employee: “Yes sir, I’ve heard of Salesforce.com and I think NetSuite. Not sure about that last one, they might have gone under during the dot come boom”
Boss: “But we can’t just have a Top 2 List. That would look dumb. All the ‘Top’ lists are in denominations of 5. You know like Top 20, 25, 50, 500. At least make a Top 5 you idiot”
And that’s how it happened my friends. Granted, Adobe has an ‘On-Demand’ product but I don’t even think this writer knows what Google is. Because if he Googled SaaS, he would have found much more than Adobe. My bet: He did his research with a Reader’s Digest or something.
