In case you haven’t seen this, Salesforce.com has an app on the AppExchange that integrates with Facebook. It’s called Faceforce and was co-developed by Clara Shih (Salesforce.com) and Todd Perry (Facebook).
Basically it allows you to associate a lead or a contact in Salesforce to a friend in your Facebook network. After you make this association you can get a better picture of this contact by pulling information off of their Facebook profile. For example, when looking at a lead, you can see what their favourite movies are, find mutual friends, or find out their birthday.
It’s a cool proof of concept but I don’t think it will have much value. How often are my leads going to be in my Facebook network? Chances are, I won’t be selling to my friends or my friend’s friends. And am I going to really poke my customer and write on their wall? Regardless, I think integrating social graphs into CRM has become increasingly important. Some companies have even started releasing such features.
I think it’s also worth checking out the integration with LinkedIn. If you want Faceforce, click here for more information.

You know what, even though I see Facebook as a fad, and yes what are the chances you’ll find your lead on Facebook…
don’t you think some people might jump at the chance of knowing more personal information about their leads just so that they know how to talk to them. My point is, people will use this app just for that slight chance that their lead is on Facebook and so that they can get tons of personal information about them (assuming they are approved as friends).
